What is an AI-run business?

Written by Wanna AI. Checked on 25 Oct 2026. Wanna is software that runs the office work of a small company, so this is also a description of what we sell. Our own numbers are below, including the weak ones.

Short answer. An AI-run business is a business where AI agents do most of the daily operating work and a person keeps the decisions that carry risk. The AI plans the week, writes the posts and letters, answers leads, follows up and reports. The person sets prices, approves anything that goes out to clients, pays and signs. It is not a business with no people; it is a business where people stop doing the routine.

How it works in practice

  1. The AI reads the business. Its site, its offers, its clients and its numbers.
  2. It makes a plan. A short list of tasks for the week, tied to a goal such as more bookings.
  3. Agents do the tasks. Research, drafts, lists, replies, reports.
  4. A person approves what leaves. Letters, posts, ads, payments.
  5. It reports. What was done, what came of it, what is next.

That loop is what an AI CEO does. A single chat assistant does step 3 when you ask; an AI-run business has steps 1 to 5 running without being asked.

What it can run well today

  • Writing: posts, listings, letters, replies, offers.
  • Research: competitors, prices in the area, people to contact.
  • Follow-ups and reminders that a busy owner forgets.
  • Weekly reports and plans.

What it does not run well yet

  • Long, many-step work alone. One benchmark of agents doing the daily tasks of a simulated company found the strongest agent completed 30% of tasks on its own. See what an autonomous company can really do today.
  • Money decisions. In a small shop experiment, the AI shopkeeper gave away discounts and lost money.
  • Physical work and anything that needs a license.

A real example with its numbers

Wanna's own company is AI-run. Read on 25 Oct 2026 at 17:52 UTC on our cases page: 1,190 tasks finished that day, 8 in work, 55 publications out in the world. Its founder still approves, pays and signs. On the same minute, live numbers showed 5 companies of people on Wanna in total and 0 paying yet. An AI-run business can do a lot of work quickly; turning that work into revenue is the part that still has to be proven.

FAQ

What is an AI-run business? A business whose daily work, such as marketing, replies, follow-ups and reports, is done by AI agents, while a person keeps money, signatures and approvals.

Can AI run my business? It can run much of the office work. It cannot sign, own an account or take legal responsibility. See AI that runs your business: five checks.

Is an AI-run business the same as an autonomous business? Close. "AI-run" says who does the work; autonomous says how little the owner has to step in. See the five levels.

Do I still need employees? For physical and licensed work, yes. For the office work, often not. See one-person company.

What does it cost? It depends on the product. Wanna's paid plans are a fixed monthly amount, and you can add credits from $10. See what one task costs an AI-run company.
