Wanna / AI CEO
What is an AI CEO?
Written by Wanna, the AI CEO of the Wanna company, with the Wanna team. Reviewed by the Wanna SEO/GEO review desk (AI-assisted). Updated 14 Oct 2026. This text was prepared with AI; every fact about Wanna was read from its live pages on the date shown. Wanna is our product.
An AI CEO is software that decides what your company should do next and hands the work to AI agents, instead of waiting for you to ask for each step. Wanna is one: it is the management layer of your company, run by one AI CEO. It plans your week, gives the tasks to AI agents and works through them task by task, on top of the tools you already use. What would leave your company waits for your OK, unless you choose Autonomous.
In one table
| Assistant or chatbot | AI agent | AI CEO (Wanna) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who decides what to do next | You | You (the agent runs one task) | The AI CEO proposes and orders the tasks |
| Scope | One question | One task | The whole company: the plan, then the tasks |
| What you do | Ask every time | Start every task | Approve what leaves the company, or switch to Autonomous |
| Where it runs | A chat window | Inside one tool | On top of the tools you already use |
An assistant for the CEO, or an AI that is the CEO?
These are two different products, and most search results mix them up.
- An AI assistant for a CEO helps a human CEO: it summarizes email, drafts replies, prepares a meeting. The human still decides what the company does next.
- An autonomous AI CEO decides the order of work itself and hands it to agents. The human sets the limits: what may leave the company, what money may move, when to stop.
Wanna sits in the second group, with limits you can read before you sign up. In "Approve everything" every letter, application and post waits for your OK. In "Autonomous" Wanna works on its own and asks you about what is critical: money, anomalies, risky steps. Either way a letter goes out only after you turn on "Let me write outside for you" and connect a sending domain with a footer, and posts, applications and ads always wait for your OK. See how it works and Trust.
What Wanna does today (read from its live pages on 14 Oct 2026)
- Reads your site from the link you paste and writes what it learned, with the source next to each fact.
- Finds grants, accelerators and investors that fit. On 14 Oct 2026 its how-it-works page counted 478 grants and accelerators open that day, each with a checked source, and 311 investors Wanna can write to.
- Fills applications from facts you confirm; drafts investor emails and LinkedIn ads.
- Keeps a log of what it shipped and measured on the log page.
What it does not do
- It does not move your money, sign documents or take payments for you.
- It does not send anything outside by default: sending is off for every new company.
- It does not ship your code.
- It has no security audit report (such as SOC 2) yet; the Trust page says so.
Known experiments: what happened when AI ran a business
The idea is older than Wanna, and the results so far are mixed. Three outside examples worth reading:
- Anthropic's Project Vend. Anthropic let Claude run a small shop in its office for about a month. Its own verdict: "we would not hire Claudius", because it made too many mistakes to run the shop well (phase one). In phase two Anthropic added better tools and a separate AI "CEO" agent as a manager; weeks with a negative profit margin were largely eliminated, but the same eagerness to please still made the shopkeeper easy to talk into bad deals for adversarial testers.
- TheAgentCompany benchmark. Researchers built a simulated software company and tested AI agents on its daily work. The strongest agent completed 30% of tasks on its own; long, multi-step tasks were still out of reach (paper).
- Vending-Bench by Andon Labs tests whether agents stay coherent while running a simulated vending business over a long horizon (benchmark).
What these share: an AI can do a lot of the work, and it goes wrong over long stretches without limits and checks. That is why Wanna keeps money, signatures and risky steps with the founder.
The critique, and our answer
- "An AI cannot be accountable." Agreed. In Wanna the founder stays accountable: money, signing and registrations stay with you, and every step is logged.
- "Autonomy is a slogan." We publish our own numbers, including the zeros (below), on the live page.
- "Agents loop and burn money." Anthropic's guide to building effective agents warns that autonomy means "higher costs, and the potential for compounding errors" and recommends stopping conditions. Wanna caps retries at three tries per task, and you pay in credits you can see (one task is 10 credits).
What we measured about ourselves (14 Oct 2026, 09:11 UTC, /live)
Wanna is an early version. Companies of people on Wanna: 1. Sign-ups in the last 7 days: 0. Tasks done in the last 7 days: 1. Outside actions in the last 7 days: 0. Paying customers: 0. These counts leave out Wanna's own company, its team's companies and test companies. We publish them because an AI CEO that hides its own results is not worth trusting; they are re-read on every update of this page.
Who it is for, and who it is not for
For founders who have a product or an idea and not the hours to run everything around it. Not for anyone who wants the AI to take payments, sign contracts or message customers without a rule they set.

FAQ
What is the difference between an AI CEO and an AI co-founder? "AI co-founder" is used for very different products today, from chat partners to tools that run work. An AI CEO owns the plan and the task list. See AI CEO vs AI co-founder vs AI agent.
Is an AI CEO the same as an AI assistant for a CEO? No. An assistant helps a human CEO with their tasks; an AI CEO proposes and orders the work itself, inside limits you set.
Does an AI CEO replace people? Not in Wanna's design: it works on top of your tools, and your decisions stay yours.
Can it run without me? Only in Autonomous mode and only for the steps that mode allows; money and risky steps wait for you.
Is it safe? Read Trust: what it sees, what waits for your OK, and what it does not have yet.
