Keep the first message short

Vijay says a long cold message signals that you are mostly talking about yourself. The post builds the message from four questions about what you noticed in the client's business, what the gap costs them, how your work solves it, and which easy question they could answer. It ends with that question instead of a calendar link, and suggests sending to ten clients before judging whether it works.

“A long cold message tells the client you have a lot to say about yourself.”— Vijay, How to Write a Cold Outreach Message That Gets a Reply, Sep 2026

Do this

Cut your standard first message today to the few sentences that name one thing you noticed about the client's business, and end it with one question they can answer in a line.
