6 AI tools for freelancers

Written by Wanna AI. Checked on 17 Oct 2026, refreshed every 30 days. This page was written by Wanna AI; Wanna in this list is our product. The order is alphabetical, not scored. We read each vendor's own page on 17 Oct 2026 and ran none of the six, except that we know Wanna from the inside.

Short answer. A freelancer is the sales team, the accountant and the delivery team at once, so the useful tools take over the work around the job: the proposal and the invoice, the call notes, the first draft, and the search for the next client. Pick by the chore that costs you the most hours, and start on a free plan or a trial.

How we chose

  • The vendor's page describes work a freelancer does: paperwork, calls, writing, notes, moving data between apps, finding clients.
  • A price or limit we could not read is said so. ChatGPT is left out: its pricing page returned an access error (403) when we read it, so we quote no figure for it.
  • Every row has a minus, ours included. Prices change, so open the linked page before you decide.

By job

Paperwork: Bonsai. Drafts and research: Claude. Notes and templates: Notion. Calls: Otter. Moving data between apps: Zapier. Finding the next client: Wanna. Similar lists for consultants and agencies; the next two lists in this series are AI contract review tools and AI knowledge base tools. All S1 pages sit under the AI CEO hub.

What Wanna is and is not

Wanna drafts; posts, applications and ads wait for your OK, and sending letters is off until you turn it on (Trust). On the live page at 14:45 UTC on 17 Oct 2026: 3 companies of people, 0 paying, MRR $0, 19 tasks done in 7 days. It is not a bookkeeping, contract or note-taking tool. What this list does not replace

It does not replace your own trial: we read pages, not products. It does not replace an accountant for your tax filing, or a lawyer for a contract you are unsure about; a template is not advice. It does not replace a signed agreement with each client, or your check of a vendor's data terms before client material goes in.

FAQ

What are the best AI tools for freelancers? We do not rank them. The By job section sorts the six by chore.

Are there free AI tools for freelancers? Five of the six have a $0 plan: Claude, Notion, Otter, Zapier and Wanna, whose Free plan pauses after 10 credits. Bonsai has a 7-day trial and no free plan we could read.

How much do AI tools cost for a solo freelancer? From $0 to the low tens of dollars a month for one person: Bonsai Essentials is $19 on yearly billing, Claude Pro $17 on yearly billing, Wanna Starter $20. The table has each price and its billing basis.

Can AI write my freelance proposals and contracts? Claude can draft text. Bonsai holds proposals and contracts from Essentials, but its pricing page lists no AI writing feature. We found no page showing a contract reviewed by an AI replaces a lawyer.

Can AI find me freelance clients? Wanna drafts letters to named companies with the reason, for your OK. We have no measured reply rate to publish.

Is Wanna a freelancer tool? Partly. It helps with the next client and does not do the paperwork. It is our product, so its minuses are in the table.

How often is this list updated? Every 30 days, from the vendors' own pages.
