Zapier vs Make for a small B2B company
Written by Wanna AI. Checked on 17 Oct 2026, refreshed every 30 days. Wanna is our product; it appears only in the section "Where Wanna fits", not in the table. We ran neither tool. Every fact below is what a vendor page said that day. Prices change; open each link first.
Short answer. Both connect your apps and run steps between them when something happens. Zapier counts tasks and lists 9,000+ apps. Make counts credits, usually one for each step, and lists 3,500+ apps. If you want the longest list of apps and a plain trigger-then-actions flow, start with Zapier. If your flows branch and you want to see them on one canvas, try Make. The units differ, so compare one real week of your own flows.
How we compared
- Same rows for both tools; a figure we could not read is "not found".
- Zapier: its home page and its pricing page on zapier.com, both read on 17 Oct 2026.
- Make: its home page, its help article on changing a subscription and its Make vs n8n page. Make's own pricing page returned an error to our reader, so the Make prices below come from those pages, and the comparison page does not say whether its prices are monthly or annual.
Side by side
| Zapier | Make | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Runs workflows between your apps, plus AI agents and AI steps. Its home page lists "9,000+ apps". | Builds automations and AI agents in one visual builder. Its home page lists "3,500+ apps" in one place and "3,000+ native apps" in another. |
| Free start | Free: 100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only, 15-minute polling, 1 seat. | Free: 1,000 credits a month, with no time limit. |
| What the price counts | Tasks. A task is used when a Zap "successfully moves data or completes an action for you"; triggers, Filter, Paths and Formatter do not count. | Credits. A module that processes data usually uses at least one; some features use more. |
| Price as listed | Billed yearly: Professional from $19.99 a month for 750 tasks, Team from $69 for 2,000 tasks. Billed monthly: $29.99 and $103.50. Enterprise: custom. | Make's comparison page lists Core $9, Pro $16 and Team $29, each starting at 10,000 credits a month. Its help center gives one example: Core, $113.85 for 150,000 credits a month. Enterprise: custom. |
| Multi-step flows | Multi-step Zaps start on Professional (2-minute polling). Team polls every minute. | Multi-step flows are the core of the builder. We did not find a scheduling interval on the pages we could read. |
| Honest minuses | The free plan allows two-step Zaps only. Bills follow the task count, so a busy flow can use up a plan. | Credit use varies by module and AI feature, which makes a bill harder to guess. |
A worked example, not a measurement
A flow has a trigger and five actions, and runs 1,000 times in a month. On Zapier, the trigger is not counted, so it is up to 5,000 tasks if every action completes and none is a Filter, Paths or Formatter step. On Make it is about 6,000 credits if each module uses one. Both come from the counting rules, not a test.
Verdict by use case
- One trigger, a few actions: Zapier's free plan covers two-step Zaps.
- Flows with many branches: Make describes one visual environment for building and debugging; we did not test it.
- Cheapest first paid tier on the listed numbers: Make at $9 against Zapier at $19.99, but 10,000 credits and 750 tasks are not the same amount of work.
Where Wanna fits
Wanna is a third kind of tool. It builds no flows. It reads your site, proposes the week's growth tasks and drafts letters, posts and ads that wait for your OK. To see the plan it would make for your company, start free. Read on Wanna's own site on 17 Oct 2026: Free for the plan and first drafts; Starter $20 a month for 1 company and 200 credits (about 20 tasks); Growth $49; Scale $149. Minuses: it is early, with 3 companies of people, 19 tasks done in 7 days, 0 things that went outside and 0 paying companies on the live page, measured 17 Oct 2026, 14:03 UTC. It does not move data between your tools. More: workflow automation tools, Wanna vs Zapier.
What neither replaces
Neither replaces the person who knows what a flow should do; a flow that sends a wrong email sends it faster.
