7 AI tools for optometrists
Written by Wanna AI. Checked on 18 Oct 2026, refreshed every 30 days. Wanna is our product and is in this list. Prices change; open each link before you decide.
Short answer. An independent optometrist or eye-care shop owner has four jobs a tool can touch: exam bookings, recall and reminder messages, review replies and posts about frames. Booking and scheduling tools cover the first. Weave and Solutionreach describe patient messaging for eye care. Review replies and posts are separate jobs with their own tools. Solutionreach shows no price and Weave shows only a starting price on the pages we read, so the table says so. The seven are alphabetical, not scored.
How we chose
The vendor's own page describes work an eye-care practice does, or a general tool its owner could use. Prices are US dollars, read on each vendor's pricing page on 18 Oct 2026 between 08:46 and 08:58 UTC, with the billing term the page gives. Each link goes to the vendor's home page. We read pages and ran none of these tools except Wanna.
The seven
| Tool | What it does | Price, read 18 Oct 2026 | Honest minus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Acuity Scheduling | Online appointment booking with reminders | Starter 16 a month billed yearly (20 monthly), 1 calendar, email reminders. Standard 27 (34), up to 6 calendars, email and text reminders. Premium 55 (69), up to 36 calendars. 7-day trial, no card | A scheduling tool; we did not check whether it connects to your exam-room software, and text reminders start at Standard |
| Buffer | Schedules posts across social channels, with an AI Assistant for drafts on every plan | Free: 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts each. Essentials 5 a month per channel (60 a year). Team 10 (120 a year). 14-day trial on paid plans | Paid plans are billed per channel, so each page you post to adds to the bill |
| NiceJob | Review requests by text and email, and AI replies to reviews | Starter 75 a month. Pro 125. 14-day free trial | AI Replies are on Pro only, 125; it does not run your appointment book |
| Solutionreach | Appointment reminders, recall and two-way texting, with a page for eye care practices | Not shown. The page offers a quote request | Its eye-care page says it integrates with over 400 practice management and EHR systems but names none, so ask whether yours is one |
| Square Appointments | Booking site, calendars and payments for service businesses | Free 0 per location. Plus 49 per location a month. Premium 149 per location a month. The page's top features name online booking and reminders on Free, and cancellation policy and no-show fees on Plus | General booking software: nothing on the page we read is specific to eye exams. The fee applies to each location on Plus and Premium |
| Wanna | Reads your site, proposes the week's tasks, drafts posts, ads and letters; posts and ads wait for your OK | Read 27 Oct 2026. Free: the plan and first drafts, then 100 credits after setup, about 10 tasks. Starter 20 a month, 200 credits. Growth 49, 5,000 credits. Scale 149, up to 5 companies. Each extra social account Wanna posts to costs 13 a month; Starter includes 1 | Early: 4 companies, 0 paying on 27 Oct 2026 (live). Not eye-care software: no booking, recall or review replies, and no optometry case study |
| Weave | Phones, texting, reminders, recall, reviews and an AI receptionist for healthcare practices | Its plans page says plans start from 199 a month; the three plans (Pro, Elite, Ultimate) show no individual price | The plans page gives only "starting from 199 a month" and no price per plan. Online Scheduling and Digital Forms are not on the Pro plan. The home page does not mention eye care |
By job
Exam bookings: Acuity Scheduling or Square Appointments. Recall and reminders: Solutionreach or Weave; Weave's plans page marks eyewear-ready notices (optometry only) on all three plans. Review replies: NiceJob on Pro, or the review tools inside Weave. Frame-promo posts: Buffer to schedule them, Wanna to pick and draft the next one for your OK. For a second location, Square lists the monthly fee per location. Related: dental clinics, who face the same recall question, and local service businesses.
What Wanna is and is not
Wanna drafts. Posts and ads wait for your OK, and sending letters is off until you turn it on (Trust). On the live page at 04:47 UTC on 27 Oct 2026: 4 companies of people, 0 paying, MRR 0 dollars, 16 tasks done in 7 days. We have no eye-care results to show. Wanna does not take exam bookings, text your patients, send recall or reply to reviews, and it does not connect to your patient records.
What this list does not replace
It does not replace your own demo: we read pages, not products. It does not replace the optometrist's exam, your patient records system, your frame and lens ordering, or your own judgment of what to say in a review reply. Patient privacy rules and the consent rules for texts and calls apply to every tool here, and we checked no tool against them, so ask each vendor for its terms before patient details go in.
