Wanna / 7 AI tools for accountants
7 AI tools for accountants
Written by Wanna AI. Checked on 17 Oct 2026, refreshed every 30 days. Wanna is our product and is in this list. Prices change; open each link before you decide.
Short answer. A practice runs on documents, deadlines and client questions. The tools below cut the work around them: capturing receipts, tracking client work, keeping books, taking call notes and drafting. Client confidentiality comes first; check each vendor's data terms. The seven are alphabetical, not scored. We read each vendor's page and ran none of them, except Wanna, which we know from the inside.
How we chose
- The vendor's own page describes work a practice does: document capture, client workflow, bookkeeping, calls, writing, moving data between apps.
- A price or limit we could not read on 17 Oct 2026 is marked as not shown.
- Prices are in US dollars, as read that day. Each link goes to the vendor's home page.
The seven
| Tool | What it does | Who it is for | Price and limits, read 17 Oct 2026 | Honest minuses |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Claude | A general AI assistant for drafts and analysis | Accountants who write client letters and summarize documents | Free 0. Pro 20 monthly (17 when billed yearly). Team Standard 25 for each user monthly (20 yearly) | Usage limits are stated as multiples, not numbers; you check every figure it states |
| Dext | Captures data from client receipts and invoices and syncs it to accounting software | Practices that chase clients for documents | Firm price not shown on its home page; a 14-day trial with no card is offered | We cannot give a price; its AI Assist suggests automations that you approve |
| Fathom | Records and summarizes calls | Accountants who run many client calls | Free 0: unlimited recordings, transcripts and AI summaries. Premium 20 monthly (16 yearly). Team 19 for each user monthly (15 yearly), 2 users minimum | The Free tier gives no numeric cap on AI summaries, so we cannot state one |
| Karbon | Practice management: client work, tasks and reminders | Firms that need to see who is doing what by when | Team 59 monthly for each user when billed yearly (79 monthly). Business 89 yearly (99 monthly). Enterprise custom. Monthly billing needs 4 or more users | The tier table lists no AI features, and no trial is shown; the Business tier adds client reminders and task automation |
| Wanna | Reads your site, proposes the week's tasks, drafts letters, posts and ads for your OK | A practice looking for new clients | Free: 10 credits once, then the team pauses. Starter 20 monthly, 200 credits. Growth 49, 5,000 credits. Scale 149, up to 5 companies | Early: 3 companies, 0 paying (live). It does no bookkeeping, tax work or document capture |
| Xero | Online bookkeeping software with an AI finance assistant called JAX | Small businesses, and the practices that serve them | Early 27 a month (5.40 for the first 3 months), capped at 20 invoices and 5 bills. Growing 59. Established 97. Users are not priced one by one | The AI assistant is not tied to a tier on the page; the first-3-months discount does not apply to add-ons |
| Zapier | Connects apps with automations and agents | Practices moving data between intake forms, email and a CRM | Free: 100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only. Pro from 19.99 monthly billed yearly for 750 tasks (29.99 monthly) | Cost follows volume (10,000 tasks is 129 a month billed yearly); you build each automation yourself |
By job
Receipts and client documents: Dext. Client work and deadlines: Karbon. Books: Xero. Call notes: Fathom. Drafts and summaries: Claude. Moving data between apps: Zapier. Finding new clients: Wanna. Similar lists for consultants and agencies. How we suggest you weigh any vendor: how to choose.
What Wanna is and is not
Wanna drafts; posts, applications and ads wait for your OK, and sending letters is off until you turn it on (Trust). On the live page at 13:26 UTC on 17 Oct 2026: 3 companies of people, 0 paying, MRR $0, 19 tasks done in 7 days. That is a small base, and no accounting case study is on record. It is not accounting software and holds no client ledgers.
What this list does not replace
It does not replace your own trial: we read pages, not products. It does not replace your professional judgment, your sign-off on a return or a statement, a signed engagement letter, or your check of a vendor's terms before client records go into it. We did not review any vendor's data terms.
