Top 6 AI booking assistants for small business
Written by Wanna AI. Updated 18 Oct 2026. Checked on 18 Oct 2026, refreshed every 30 days. This page was written by Wanna AI. Wanna is our product and it does not take bookings or answer calls, so it is not in the table. The order is alphabetical. It is not a score.
Short answer. "Booking assistant" covers two different jobs. One is a booking page that lets customers pick a time (Acuity Scheduling, Calendly). The other is a receptionist that answers the phone and books for the caller, either an AI voice agent (Dialzara, Goodcall, Smith.ai's AI plans) or a person (Ruby, Smith.ai's human plans). Decide which job you have first; the prices work in different units.
How we chose
- The vendor's own pages say it books appointments or answers calls for a small business, and the product is still sold today.
- We read each pricing page on 18 Oct 2026. Where a page shows a yearly and a monthly view, the table says which view each price comes from.
- Setmore is not listed: its pricing page showed conflicting figures for the same plan in different places. Square Appointments is not listed: its pricing page showed no price amounts when we read it.
- We ran none of the six. Everything about them is what their pages say.
The six at a glance
| Tool | What it does | Who it is for | Price and plan limits, read 18 Oct 2026 | Honest minus |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Acuity Scheduling | Online booking page with calendars; the Premium plan adds an "AI Booking Assistant" described as an "AI chat bot for clients" | Appointment businesses with a few staff calendars | With "Pay annually" selected (the page carries a 20 percent note): Starter $16 (one calendar), Standard $27 (up to six), Premium $55 (up to 36). With "Pay monthly": $20, $34 and $69. 7-day trial, no card. Enterprise: contact sales | The "AI Booking Assistant" ("AI chat bot for clients") is listed on Premium only |
| Calendly | Booking links; AI scheduling over email (Callie, beta) and meeting recaps are add-ons | Anyone who books calls and meetings | Free: one event type, one calendar. Standard $10 and Teams $16 per seat a month on the "Billed yearly" view (a 17 percent note on Standard); a "Billed monthly" view is also offered. Enterprise is annual, from 50 seats (the page says it starts at 15 thousand dollars) | Not a phone answerer; the page says Notetaker and Callie "are only available in English at this time" and sells them as add-ons to Standard or Teams |
| Dialzara | AI voice receptionist that answers calls and books appointments; an SMS agent and a website chatbot are offered alongside | Owners who miss calls and want a low starting price | Business Lite: monthly rate of $29 for 60 minutes, $0.48 a minute over. Pro: $99 for 220 minutes ($0.45 over). Plus: $199 for 500 ($0.40 over). Elite: $349 for 1,000 ($0.35 over). No contract, 7-day free trial | Billed by the minute, so a busy month costs more; "Calendar sync (Google/Outlook)" is ticked on Pro, Plus and Elite, not on Lite |
| Goodcall | AI phone agent that answers calls at any hour, sorts callers, captures leads, books appointments and texts you the details | Small shops that want to try before paying | Starter: monthly rate of $79 for 100 unique customers, about 150 calls. Growth: $129 for 500. Scale: $299 for 2,000. Priced per unique customer, with 79, 26 and 15 cents each over the limit. A free demo agent; you pay when you connect a number | Each plan counts "unique customers", not minutes, so a month with many different callers costs more; Starter includes "5 workers" and "1 external tool" |
| Ruby | People answer your calls, take messages, transfer calls and can schedule appointments; AI is used behind the scenes for transcripts and call flows | Law firms, home services and small offices that want a human voice | Monthly rate of $250 for 50 minutes, $395 for 100, $720 for 200, $1,725 for 500 | Priced in minutes a month and stops at 500 minutes ($1,725); for more, the page says "just talk to us" |
| Smith.ai | Answers calls with AI or with people; books appointments on your calendar | Owners who want to start with AI and add people later | AI plans: Free, 25 calls a month, then 3 dollars a call. Pro: monthly rate of $150 for 75 calls, $270 for 150, $500 for 300 (extra calls $2.50, $2.30, $2.17). Enterprise AI: $500 for 300 calls, $800 for 500. Human plans: Starter, monthly rate of $300 for 30 calls; Basic $810 for 90; Pro $2,100 for 300. Booking on human plans is $1.50 a call. Month to month, 30-day money-back guarantee on human plans | Priced per call, so a busy month costs more; its pricing page says both "30-day money-back guarantee" and "in the first two weeks" for refunds |

Where Wanna fits
Wanna does not take bookings, give out booking links or answer calls. You paste your site link; it plans the week of work for your company and drafts letters, posts and applications that wait for your OK (how it works). Use one of the six for the phone and the calendar, and Wanna for growth work. For calendar-planning tools see AI scheduling assistants. For the wider field-service picture see AI tools for local service businesses.
What this list does not replace
A vendor's page is a claim. This list does not replace a test: call the number you would give customers, ask for a booking you can cancel, and see what the caller hears. It does not replace a person for the complaint, the emergency or the customer who needs a judgment call. It does not replace your own check of call-recording and consent rules in your state. FAQ
What is an AI booking assistant? It is software that takes a booking for you: either a page or chat where customers pick a time, or a voice agent that answers the phone and puts the appointment on your calendar. Some vendors in this list use people instead. We did not test any of them.
Can AI book appointments for me? Their own pages say so for Calendly (Callie schedules over email), Dialzara, Goodcall and Smith.ai. Acuity Scheduling lists an "AI Booking Assistant" on Premium, described as an "AI chat bot for clients". Ruby's page says its human receptionists can schedule appointments.
Is there an AI receptionist for small business that costs under $100 a month? Dialzara Business Lite has a monthly rate of $29 for 60 minutes, and Goodcall Starter $79. Smith.ai's AI plan has a Free tier with 25 calls a month, then 3 dollars a call. Check call volume first, since each prices differently.
How much does an AI receptionist cost? In these six, AI voice plans run from $0 (Smith.ai Free, 25 calls) to a monthly rate of $800 (Smith.ai Enterprise AI, 500 calls), and Smith.ai lists custom pricing above that. Dialzara tops out at $349 (Elite, 1,000 minutes). The human plans we read start at $250 (Ruby, 50 minutes) and $300 (Smith.ai, 30 calls).
Do I need a calendar to use an AI booking assistant? Goodcall's how-it-works page says bookings go on your Google Calendar, or into your booking system through its API. Smith.ai's pricing page names Calendly and Acuity among the calendars it books on. Dialzara's pricing page lists Google and Outlook calendar sync on Pro, Plus and Elite, not on Lite.
Is a booking page enough, or do I need a receptionist? A booking page works when customers book online. If customers call, you need something that answers the phone.
Can Wanna take bookings for my business? No. Wanna does not book appointments, give out booking links or answer calls. It is our product, so we say so here.
How often is this list updated? Every 30 days, from the vendors' own pages.
