A price cut becomes the new number

The article says Chick-fil-A wins through three decisions: sell fewer things, stick to your price, and be unavailable some of the time, and it cites Raising Cane's and PopUp Bagels as examples. On pricing, it separates a permanent discount from an occasional giveaway and says a slashed price becomes the number every future quote is measured against. It ends with a Cut List exercise for owners.

“Cut the price, and the customer learns your real number.”— Contrarian Thinking, Why Chick-fil-A wins in a Crowded Industry, Aug 2026
