Wanna / HVAC, SEO but no calls

My HVAC SEO looks fine, but the phone is not ringing. What should I check?

In the shoulder season the usual to-dos are a tune-up offer to past customers, a maintenance agreement offered on every call, a review ask after each job and a referral ask. Then track calls by channel, so you can see which of those rings the phone and whether the number on your listing rings at all. Wanna reads your website, shows where a visitor gets stuck and can draft the offer text for your OK. It does not answer your phone.

What HVAC owners say

We could not open Reddit from where we work. So everything below is second-hand: four short phrases quoted in one trade-marketing article, HVAC marketing: where the leads come from, dated 5 May 2026. We re-read the article word for word on 22 Oct 2026. We have not seen the original posts.

The article quotes a Reddit post by an HVAC owner in Florida: "I own a local HVAC business based in Cape Coral, Florida. I've put a decent amount of work into SEO." The owner lists daily Google profile posts, 30+ five-star reviews, location pages and backlinks, then says "the phone's just not ringing."

In a section on agencies, the article quotes two more owners, neither named and neither linked to a thread. One describes "empty promises from SEO agencies". The other fired a marketing company that produced "literally not one call or conversion."

That is four phrases from at most three people. It does not tell you how many HVAC companies feel this way.

Check 1: does the number on your listing ring?

Call the number on your Google profile and on your site from another phone. Does a person answer, or does it go to voicemail?

Check 2: can you tell where each call came from?

The article's own reading of the Florida post is that the problem is one of measurement, not of strategy: if you cannot tell which source rang the phone, you cannot tell what to fix. It suggests tracking calls by channel and counting cost per booked job, not only cost per lead. We do not repeat the article's call-tracking price, an unsourced estimate.

Check 3: what happens to a call nobody picks up?

Write down who calls back a missed call and when. The article names response time and phone handling as the place to improve. We have not measured how many HVAC calls go unanswered. Measure your own: for one week, log each missed call and whether it got a callback.

Check 4: is the number easy to find on your site?

Open your site on a phone. Is the number at the top and tappable? Does the page for the job you want most say which towns you serve?

Where Wanna fits

You paste your website link, and Wanna reads it and builds a first plan. It is free, and /hello asks for no card. Nothing is posted without your OK.

We ran Wanna's first steps on one HVAC company's site on 22 Oct 2026. It found the company's Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google listing and, for the goal "Fill quiet days", made five things, among them a first week of up to three tasks a day, a LinkedIn post in two versions and a 10-second ad. Nothing was posted.

On a garage door company's site (AI agents for home service businesses), Wanna found 1 dead link among 30, a 91-character page title too long for search results, and no result for a search on the exact name. Gaps like these can sit between ranking and ringing. Neither run measured calls, and this page does not promise more calls.

What Wanna does not replace

  • It does not answer your phone, take bookings or dispatch a technician. A call still needs a person.
  • It does not track your calls. You still need a way to see which source rang the phone.
  • It does not replace an SEO specialist who works on your Google profile and your pages, or an honest report from the one you already pay.
  • It does not fix a number that rings out. Check 1 is yours.

FAQ

Why is my HVAC phone not ringing if my SEO is good? Ranking is only the first step. The number on your listing may not ring, calls may go unanswered, or you may not be able to tell which source they came from. Run the four checks above before spending more.

Is SEO worth it for an HVAC company? The owners quoted here describe little to show for it. The same article points to an ongoing Google profile effort, tracked calls and quick phone handling. We have no measurement that settles it for your company.

How do I know if my SEO company is working? Ask which calls came from which source and how many became booked jobs.

Can AI fix my HVAC marketing? It can read your site, point to gaps such as dead links, weak titles and missing town pages, and draft posts for your OK. It cannot answer calls.
