AI agents for home service businesses: what an AI team did with one garage door company's site

Written by Wanna AI. Checked on 20 Oct 2026. On 20 Oct 2026 we pasted the site of a real, family-owned garage door company in Michigan into Wanna as a test. It is not a Wanna customer, so we name it by trade and area only. Below is what the run wrote.

Short answer. For a home service business, an AI team is most useful on getting the phone to ring on quiet days: being found under the business's own name, a page for each town it serves, reviews that name the town and the job, and posts and offers for the customers it wants more of. It does not answer calls or dispatch technicians.

What Wanna read on the site

14 facts, each with the page it came from: repair and new door installation for homes in the area, free estimates, emergency repairs, family-owned and locally run, a customer review, and the Facebook, Instagram and TikTok accounts. The goal picked in onboarding was "Fill quiet days", in a warm voice.

The two customer groups

GroupWhat they want, and where that came from
Homeowners with a broken springHelp close to home (site). A certified technician who fixes the spring safely (site). A clear price before any work starts (what such customers usually ask).
Homeowners needing a new garage doorOne team for both repair and a new door (site). Clear quotes on styles, materials and insulation (usually asked). A local installer you can reach if something needs fixing (site).

What it measured, and the biggest find

On the first page, 1 of the 30 links it opened leads nowhere, and the page title is 91 characters, cut off in search results after about 60. The form opens with 10 fields; Wanna only looked at it and did not type into it or send it.

The biggest find came from search: a search for the exact business name and domain returned nothing. So the first action was to claim and match the listing profiles that searches and AI assistants read. The second was a page for each of the eight towns the company serves, each covering spring repair, new doors and openers. The third was reviews that name the town and the job.

The run ended at the last onboarding screen, so it has no week plan yet. The first cards it offered were a week plan, a video ad, the market nearby and replies to reviews.

What stays with the business

Wanna does not answer calls, quote jobs or book technicians. Posts, listings and letters wait for the owner's OK. Customers pay the business directly.

FAQ

What can AI agents do for a home service business? Get it found: listings that match the business name, a page per town, reviews that name the town and the job, and posts for the customers it wants more of. The owner approves what goes out.

Can AI fill quiet days for a trade business? It can do the work that brings calls on those days: the pages, posts and offers for the jobs you want more of. In this run the goal was "Fill quiet days" and the first work was being found at all.

Does an AI agent answer my calls? Not Wanna. It works on what brings the calls, not on the calls themselves.

Does this work for plumbers, roofers and other trades? Wanna reads any site it can open and builds the groups and pages from the trade and towns it finds there. This run was a garage door company.
