Send a monthly investor update

Gil says too few founders use their investors and advisors after the financing, and one way to keep them involved is a monthly update. He gives a longer format for later-stage companies, with asks, key metrics, team, product and burn, and a short format for early companies built on asks, highlights and lowlights. He puts the asks first, and notes that at later stages you may limit broad updates because investors can become a source of leaks.

“At some point investors can start to become a source of leaks about the company.”— Elad Gil, Investor Update Emails, May 2015
