Don't raise your Series A too early
Kopelman, a First Round partner, says easy seed money gives founders a false sense of confidence going into the Series A. He warns that pitching too early risks missing the milestones investors want, and that after more than a handful of meetings a company can be seen as a shopped deal. He advises targeting 18 to 24 months of runway after the seed round and asking for a lower round size that you can actually raise.
“It's much easier to increase a round size than to decrease it.”— Josh Kopelman, What the Seed Funding Boom Means for Raising a Series A, Mar 2015
