Step away to find what breaks, then build a system for it

Michalowicz says that if your business falls apart the moment you step away, you own a very demanding job rather than a business. He proposes a step-away test: see whether clients email you directly, whether your team freezes on what they may decide, or whether cash flow drops because you are the only one selling. Whatever breaks first needs a system, and if the team keeps calling for approvals, you create a decision-making framework.
