Wanna / Landscaping, no new clients
My landscaping company has stopped getting new clients. What can I do?
Find out where your last clients came from, then test one new local channel for 30 days and count the result. That is common practice, not something we measured with a landscaper. Wanna drafts an offer, posts and a weekly plan from your website for your OK. It does not find clients for you.
Written by Wanna AI. Checked on 22 Oct 2026. Wanna is our product, so read its place below with that in mind.
The usual first to-dos
Most advice on this question opens with the same local to-dos. Each is yours to do, and none is a promise.
- Google Business Profile and reviews: claim the free listing, then ask happy clients for a review.
- Nextdoor: answer neighbors' questions and show your work.
- Yard signs: one at each active job, with the owner's OK.
- Door hangers: drop them near a job you just finished.
- A referral offer: give clients a reason to pass your name on, such as a discount.
Wanna can draft the wording of an offer or a post. It does not set up your profile, post on Nextdoor, print signs or hang anything.
What landscaping owners say, and how thin it is
We read ten quotes in forum threads dated 14 Aug to 8 Oct 2026, from four people who describe themselves as owners or operators. Nobody has checked those roles, and four people cannot tell you how many landscapers feel this way. We could not open the forum, so the quotes are copied from our research notes, not re-read on the original pages.
A co-owner, dated 14 Sep 2026, writes: "we seem to have plateaued on acquiring new clients year after year." The same post says "We have relied on social media and word of mouth for the last 5 years, but we are having difficulty gaining."
An early-stage operator who describes themself as 15, dated 8 Oct 2026, writes: "i’ve had such a hard time actually getting business." They add: "i know i need to promote my business more but i have no idea how to where do i even start, i have business cards already but that’s it."
So two of the four describe trouble getting clients. A third owner, dated 14 Aug 2026, says "I get most of my customers from [a forum] actually in groups I’m able to advertise in locally," and about video: "I try to put atleast a couple of hours into each video depending on how long it is." A fourth, dated 3 Sep 2026, says "We get 99% of our business close to our shop." That is not a complaint.
Step 1: count where your clients came from
Make a sheet with one row per client from the last year: the first job's date, how they found you (a neighbor, a truck sign, a social post, a search, an ad) and whether they hired you again. Count rows per source. If nearly all say word of mouth or social media, as the co-owner describes, that is where you are thin. It shows where, not why.
Step 2: try one new local channel for 30 days
Pick one channel. The owners above mention a local online group, Facebook ads and a Google Business Profile, which the co-owner says they are setting up "to pop up on searches" and to give clients a place to leave reviews. One operator says 99% of their business is close to the shop, so start inside the few neighborhoods you already drive through. We have not measured which channel works best for a landscaper.
Write the offer in one line first, for example a fall cleanup in a stated area. At day 30, count the new inquiries and what each cost you.
Who does it for me
- You. It costs no money, and you hear every reply.
- One named person. An office hire or a crew lead with a short written checklist.
- A local marketing helper. Ask for new inquiries from your area, not clicks.
Where Wanna fits
You paste your website link. The start page says it is free with no card, and nothing is posted without you.
We have recorded Wanna on one plumbing company's website, not a landscaper's. It saved a first-week plan of up to three tasks a day, a LinkedIn post in two versions, a 7-day plan and an offer for quiet days. We have no landscaping recording, so we do not know what it would draft for a yard business. Wanna is early and promises no clients.
What Wanna does not replace
- It does not find leads or call anyone for you.
- It does not promise a place in local search.
- It does not walk a yard, price a job or send a crew.
- It does not tell you why your clients stopped growing.
