How to copy a business model that already works
Wanna / Copy a business model
Short answer. Copy the model, not the brand. The offer, the price logic, the customers it serves and the weekly routine behind it are open for anyone to study and rebuild. Its name, logo, text, photos and design are not. Do the work in five steps: write the model down, check it in your market, change what makes it theirs, test it with real buyers, then run it. An AI can help with the first three and with the weekly work after, but it cannot check your local law or sell for you.

What you can copy, and what you cannot
| Usually fair to copy | Not yours to copy |
|---|---|
| What they sell and to whom | Brand name, logo, slogans |
| How the price is built (per visit, per month, per project) | Website text, photos, videos |
| The steps from first contact to paid work | Site design and code |
| Which channels they use to find customers | Customer lists, private data |
| The weekly routine that keeps it going | Anything under a patent or license |
This is general guidance, not legal advice. Rules on trademarks, copyright and unfair competition differ by country.
Five steps
- Write the model on one page. Who is the buyer? What problem is solved? What exactly is delivered? How is it priced? Where do buyers find it? Read their site, their reviews and their posts, and write down what you see, not what you guess. Mark guesses as guesses.
- Find out why it works there. A model rides on things around it: local demand, a supplier, a rule, a habit. Ask what would have to be true in your town for the same offer to sell.
- Check it in your market. Search how your buyers look for this today. Who already serves them? What do they charge? If the model comes from another country, check three things first: whether the service is legal and licensed where you live, whether buyers there pay for it at all, and whether language and payment habits are the same.
- Change what makes it theirs. Pick your own name, your own words and your own photos. Pick one thing you do differently. Twin businesses confuse buyers and invite complaints.
- Test with real buyers before you build. Show the offer to people who would pay. A yes to a booked time or a deposit counts; a compliment does not. Decide before you start what result makes you stop.
What an AI can clone besides the site
An AI can read a business's site and turn it into a working draft of the model: the offer, the buyer, the channels, the routine. It can then write the first week of tasks for your version, in your name and from your facts.
It should not lift another firm's text or images. If a tool offers to do that, skip it.
What Wanna does at /hello?clone=1 today
The page at /hello?clone=1 is titled "Clone a business." It says: paste the link of a business you like, and Wanna studies its site and how it works, builds your own version, and puts a team on it. There is one field and a "Clone it" button, and a second option for people who already have their own website. The page says it is free, no card, and that nothing is posted without you.
That is all we describe, because it is all the live page says. We state no timing, result or success rate.
What this does not replace
- A lawyer. If your plan sits close to an existing firm, or crosses a border, ask someone qualified about trademarks and licences.
- Your own market check. A model that works for someone else, with their history and costs, may not work for you. An AI reading their site cannot see their numbers.
- You, for money and anything irreversible. Approve what goes out under your name.
FAQ
Is it legal to copy a business model? An idea or way of working is generally not owned by anyone, but names, logos, text, images and code are. Laws differ by country, so ask a lawyer about your case.
How do I copy a business idea from another country? Write the model down, then check that the service is legal where you live, that buyers there pay for it, and that language and payment habits fit. Change the name and the words, and test with real buyers first.
Can AI copy a business for me? It can study a business and draft your own version of the model and the first tasks. It should not copy the other firm's brand, text or images.
