What a small business is made of: the parts an AI team runs
By Wanna AI · · 4 min read
A small business is not one job. It is a set of parts, and most owners hold all of them at once. This is the list we use inside Wanna OS, our AI team for small companies, and an honest line on what it does at each part today.
The list has 42 parts in three groups: 8 core parts that decide how the team thinks, 19 body parts that nearly every company has, and 15 type modules that switch on for one kind of business. Our own map marks each core and body part with one of three words:
- Live: Wanna OS does it today.
- Partial: some of it works, some of it does not yet.
- New: we have not built it. It is a direction, not a feature.
Of the 27 core and body parts, 3 are live, 15 are partial and 9 are new. Most of the list is unfinished, and we would rather you read that here than find it out later.
The core: how the team thinks
- A1 Strategy: live. Sets goals, plans the day, tests ideas and records decisions.
- A2 Memory: partial. Keeps playbooks by business type, what it knows about you and past decisions. Still growing.
- A3 References: new. Collecting the best videos, posts, sites and competitor ads is planned, not built.
- A4 Radar: partial. Watches videos, repositories, skills, plugins and news every day.
- A5 Doers: live. The agents that write, code, ship and connect tools.
- A6 Immune system: partial. Gates, a guard against low-quality AI text and fact checks. Not every output passes through all three yet.
- A7 Calibration: partial. Tests, A/B comparisons and quality checks, and the search for product-market fit.
- A8 Voice: partial. Chat, Telegram and email work. Voice calls are new.
The body: what almost every company has
- B1 Strategy and market: partial. Monthly goals, competitors, market size and positioning.
- B2 Customer research: new. Segments, interviews, pains and personas are not built.
- B3 Product and offer: partial. What you sell, prices, plans, packaging and the roadmap.
- B4 Brand: partial. Name, voice, visual style and logo.
- B5 Creative studio: live. Videos, posts, design, photos and copy.
- B6 Marketing: partial. Social, SEO and email work. PR, community and influencers are new.
- B7 Advertising: partial. Facebook and Instagram, with budgets. Google and TikTok are new.
- B8 Sales: partial. Leads, funnel, CRM and letters. Calls, proposals and contracts are new.
- B9 Partnerships: new. Partners, resellers, integrations and joint launches.
- B10 Customers and success: partial. Support and reviews. Retention and loyalty programs are new.
- B11 Operations: new. Processes, suppliers, purchasing and quality.
- B12 Finance: partial. Credit and payment. Invoices, bookkeeping, taxes, budget and cash flow, and unit economics are new.
- B13 Raising money: new. Grants, investors and loans.
- B14 Legal: new. Company registration, contracts, trademark, data policy and licenses.
- B15 People: new. Hiring, contractors, freelancers, onboarding and payouts.
- B16 Technology: partial. Website, domain, email, app and security.
- B17 Analytics: partial. Metrics, dashboards and reports.
- B18 Risk and compliance: new. Risks, insurance and inspections.
- B19 World: new. Languages, countries and local rules.
The type modules: what depends on what you sell
Our map lists these 15 without a live, partial or new mark, so we do not claim any of them works today. They are the sections that light up for one kind of business, and the brain is meant to rearrange itself around yours.
- C1 Goods and shop: catalog, stock, orders, shipping, returns and marketplaces.
- C2 Food and restaurants: menu, kitchen and cost, table booking, delivery and sanitation.
- C3 Booking and services: schedule, online booking, staff and memberships (salons, clinics, fitness).
- C4 Projects and agencies: projects, estimates, hours, portfolio and tenders.
- C5 SaaS and subscriptions: plans, user onboarding, churn, releases and docs.
- C6 Manufacturing: raw materials, production, quality control and equipment.
- C7 Real estate: properties, showings, rentals and deals.
- C8 Education and courses: programs, students, schedule and certificates.
- C9 Creators and media: content plan, sponsors, monetization and merch.
- C10 Platforms and marketplaces: two sides, moderation and commissions.
- C11 Hotels and travel: rooms, bookings, seasonality and booking sites.
- C12 Health: patients, licenses and medical privacy.
- C13 Local business: map listing, map reviews and the neighborhood.
- C14 Nonprofits: donors, grants and volunteers.
- C15 B2B services and consulting: expertise, case studies and a long sales cycle.
What this list does not replace
A list of parts is not a business. It does not replace an accountant, a lawyer, an insurer or a person who knows your customers. Legal, risk and bookkeeping are marked new for that reason: today you still need a professional there. The map is also our own, not an industry standard, and we have not measured how much time any part saves.
To see what the team makes from your own website, start at /hello. A page showing these parts as a map is being built and is not live yet, so there is no link to it here.
